LtXIVa displayed analgesic activity in a hot plate assay (Sun et al. 2011).

Analgesia was also observed against second-phase pain in formalin-induced inflammatory pain model, and in a paw withdrawal threshold test of mechanical pain (Ren et al. 2015).

Effects downstream of nAChR: inhibits Ca(2+) influx, ERK1/2 phosphorylation and c-fos/NOS expression (Ren et al. 2015).

LtXIVA treatment did induce a morphine-dependent phenotype in mice, and genes associated with drug dependence were not up-regulated (Ren et al. 2015). LtXIVA treatment reversed morphine withdrawal symptoms in mice [Ren et al. 2015].

Wu et al. (2021) studied the pharmacological and toxicological properties of LtXIVa. The study showed that 1, 5 and 10 mg/kg doses of LtXIVa could prolong the pentobarbital-induced sleep time of mice.
